A Slow Flood
I don’t know how to describe what we are going through except as a slow flood. First the water rises, slowly and inexorably. Then it stabilizes for a short while; if the wind is from the right direction, if it blows offshore, the level may even go down. But then it creeps upward again… Continue reading

When Lake Waters Rise
This year Lake Ontario is high and rising, and rain continues to fall frequently over the lake and the watershed that feeds it. When I last checked (on the US Army Corps of Engineers site) the water had risen 18 inches over the month before and was well above the expected forecast at 247.7 feet.
